The cost of silica bricks is influenced by multiple factors, including raw materials, processing, and compliance, with an overall range of approximately 1800-14000 RMB/ton. The core differences stem from raw material purity, production processes, and product specifications. Raw material costs account for the largest share, approximately 50%-65%, making it the core factor determining the cost of silica bricks.
1. Raw material costs
Raw materials mainly include silica ore (220-260 RMB/ton, price reductions possible with bulk purchases), quartz sand (400-1700 RMB/ton; high-purity quartz sand for high-silica bricks is more expensive), and auxiliary materials such as mineralizers and binders. High-quality silica bricks require raw materials with a SiO₂ content ≥98%, which increases raw material costs by 8%-10% compared to ordinary silica bricks.
2. Processing costs
Processing costs account for 20%-30%, covering crushing, molding, and sintering processes. Traditional processes consume approximately 650-700 kg of standard coal per ton of silica bricks, while new natural gas kilns consume ≤80 m³/ton, resulting in significant energy cost differences. Labor and equipment depreciation also fluctuate with production scale; large-scale production can reduce unit processing costs.
3. Compliance costs
Compliance and other costs account for 10%-15%. Meeting GB/T 2608-2012 standards requires an additional 8%-15% in costs, mainly for raw material selection and environmental treatment. Furthermore, logistics, packaging, and R&D expenses also affect the final cost. Companies located near raw material production areas can save 8%-10% on procurement and logistics costs.
In summary, the cost of ordinary silica bricks is approximately 1800-3680 RMB/ton. High-end zero-expansion silica bricks, due to higher raw material and process requirements, can cost up to 14,000 RMB/ton. Costs for small and medium-sized enterprises are generally higher than the industry average.
