Corundum Brick
Corundum refractory bricks are refractory products with alumina content greater than 90% and corundum as the main crystal phase. High normal temperature compressive strength (up to 340MPa). High load softening start temperature (greater than 1700 ° C). Very good chemical stability, strong resistance to acidic or alkaline slag, metals and glass liquids. Thermal shock stability is related to its organizational structure.
Corundum bricks can be divided into sintered corundum fire brick and fused corundum brick. Sintered alumina and fused corundum can be used as raw materials, or alumina clinker with high Al2O3 / SiO2 ratio can be combined with sintered alumina and made by sintering. It can also be made of non-burning corundum brick with phosphoric acid or other binders.

Description of Corundum Fire Brick
Corundum fire bricks are high-grade refractory products with α-Al₂O₃ (corundum crystals) as the main crystalline phase. Industry standards stipulate that the alumina content is ≥90%, making them the highest-grade alumina refractory materials, far superior to ordinary high-alumina refractory bricks.
Characteristics of Corundum Brick
Ultra-high refractoriness
Pure corundum melting point 2054℃, load softening temperature >1700℃, long-term safe operating temperature 1600～1800℃.
High strength and high wear resistance
Mohs hardness 9 (second only to diamond), room temperature compressive strength 80～340MPa, high-temperature load-bearing capacity, resistant to erosion and wear.
Excellent chemical stability
Resistant to acidic, neutral, and weakly alkaline slags;
Does not react with molten steel, molten glass, or non-ferrous metal melts, and is not easily contaminated in products;
Long-term stability in oxidizing and neutral atmospheres.
Dense and low porosity
Apparent porosity <1% for cast type, 3%～8% for sintered type, resistant to penetration and corrosion.
Application of Corundum Refractory Brick
Blast Furnace: Hearth, tuyere, slag line lining;
Steelmaking: Electric furnace hearth, ladle slag line, RH vacuum furnace, impact zone of continuous casting tundish;
Stainless Steel Smelting: High-purity corundum reduces inclusions in molten steel, improving steel quality.
Melting furnace walls, flow channels, risers, feed channels; resists melting of molten glass above 1500℃, reducing glass contamination defects.
Rotary kiln firing zone, tertiary air duct, high-temperature zone of cooler; chrome corundum bricks are used in alkaline conditions.
Coal gasification furnaces, synthetic ammonia conversion furnaces, ethylene cracking furnaces; resistant to high-temperature, reducing corrosive flue gas.
Muffle furnaces, pusher kilns, ceramic kiln shelves/saggers, aluminum electrolysis cells, waste incinerators, and laboratory high-temperature crucible furnaces.
