Chrome corundum brick mainly refers to the corundum refractory product containing Cr2O3. Using α-Al2O3 as main raw material, adding appropriate amount of chromium oxide powder and chromium corundum clinker fine powder, after forming process, the bricks will be sintered at high temperature. At high temperatures, Cr2O3 and Al2O3 form a continuous solid solution, so the high temperature performance of chrome corundum products is better than pure corundum products.
In the most widely used chromium corundum products, the content of Cr2O3 is mostly in the range of 9%~15%. The main mineral composition is α-Al2O3-Cr2O3 solid solution. The secondary mineral composition is a small amount of composite spinel (or no composite spinel).
The chromium oxide content in the chrome refractory brick is from 1% to 30%. There are two types: fused cast chrome corundum fire bricks and sintered chrome corundum refractory bricks.
Chrome corundum fire bricks are high-performance refractory products primarily composed of an α-Al₂O₃-Cr₂O₃ solid solution.
By adding chromium oxide (Cr₂O₃) to corundum (Al₂O₃) and utilizing the characteristic that the two form a continuous solid solution at high temperatures, chrome corundum bricks exhibit superior high-temperature performance, slag resistance, and thermal shock resistance compared to ordinary pure corundum bricks.






High load softening temperature (typically greater than 1700℃), exhibiting excellent volume stability and resistance to softening and deformation at high temperatures.
Demonstrates strong resistance to metallurgical slag, acidic and alkaline media, molten glass, and corrosive gases. Resistance to slag corrosion further improves with increasing Cr₂O₃ content.
Withstands rapid temperature changes without easily cracking or peeling.
High compressive strength at room temperature (typically >150MPa), effectively resisting the erosion and wear of high-temperature materials.
Used as the lower lining and backing material for residual oil gasifiers and pressurized coal-water slurry gasifiers, requiring extremely high purity; it must be a high-purity product with low silicon, low iron, and low alkali.
Used in the chutes and tapping platforms of steel rolling furnaces, permeable bricks for ladles, and molten iron pretreatment devices.
Used as the lining of glass kilns and as cover bricks for glass drawing flow channels.
Used in the linings of copper smelting furnaces, zinc smelting electric furnaces, and volatilization kilns.
Used in waste incinerators and other applications requiring high corrosion resistance and erosion resistance.
