Recently, a Nigerian customer consulted us regarding the need for refractory materials to repair damaged areas of the rotary kiln’s firing zone. The customer required refractory materials to repair the firing zone. Ruitai’s technical team provided a professional repair solution.
The rotary kiln firing zone operates at temperatures as high as 1700-1800℃, enduring high-temperature erosion, chemical corrosion, and thermal stress. Repair materials must possess high-temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and ease of application. The main types are shaped and unshaped, suitable for different repair scenarios.
Shaped repair materials primarily consist of magnesia-iron spinel bricks and magnesia-alumina spinel bricks. The former has strong resistance to clinker melt penetration and is environmentally friendly and chromium-free, making it the first choice for medium and large kilns. The latter has excellent resistance to alkaline corrosion, suitable for alkaline conditions. Directly bonded magnesia bricks have high density and sufficient strength, suitable for localized repairs of the firing zone’s normalizing point, replacing traditional magnesia-chrome bricks and addressing environmental issues.
Unshaped materials are suitable for complex damaged areas. High-purity magnesium aluminum spinel castables are easy to apply, have good thermal shock resistance, and are suitable for large-area repairs. PA80 mullite castables harden quickly and are suitable for emergency repairs. Dolomite bricks can be used for repairs in high-sulfur conditions, but moisture-proofing is necessary. Selection should be based on the degree of damage and the characteristics of the operating conditions, prioritizing environmentally friendly materials to ensure stable kiln operation after repair.
Currently, our technical staff are communicating with the client, who has shown strong interest. We look forward to cooperating with them.
