Refractory Cement

Refractory cement, also known as aluminate fire cement, is a hydraulic cementitious material made from bauxite and limestone. Refractory fire cement is produced by calcining clinker, which is primarily composed of calcium aluminate and contains approximately 50% alumina, and then grinding it into a powder.
Aluminate refractory cement is typically yellow or brown, but can also be gray. The main minerals in aluminate refractory cement are monocalcium aluminate (CaO·Al2O3, abbreviated as CA) and other aluminates, as well as a small amount of dicalcium silicate (2CaO·SiO2).
Aluminate refractory cement is used to bind various refractory aggregates (such as corundum and calcined high-alumina bauxite) to produce refractory castables or refractory concrete, used as linings for industrial kilns.

Characteristics of Refractory Cement

• High Temperature Resistance: Refractory cement can withstand high temperatures, with a refractoriness exceeding 1580°C.
• High Bond Strength and Plasticity: High bond strength firmly binds refractory aggregates together; good plasticity facilitates construction, mixing, transportation, and molding.
• Strong Corrosion Resistance: Excellent resistance to chemical corrosion, resisting erosion by strong corrosive substances such as acids and alkalis.Calcium magnesium aluminate refractory cement, in particular, exhibits even stronger resistance to slag erosion.
• Good Sulfate Resistance: Refractory fire cement performs exceptionally well in resisting sulfate erosion.
• Good Waterproofing Performance: Due to its high density, its concrete possesses excellent waterproofing properties.

Application of Refractory Cement

• Kiln: Refractory cement is used for furnace linings (such as cement rotary kilns, glass kilns, ceramic kilns, metallurgical furnaces, etc.) to withstand extreme temperatures and protect structural components.
• Boiler: Construction and repair of high-temperature boilers and repair of refractory linings.
• Incinerator: Assemble and line the inner walls of industrial incinerator chimneys and other high-temperature chimneys.
• Other industrial applications: Refractory fire cement is used for coatings and linings in the aluminum manufacturing industry, and for lining kilns in cement plants.
• Refractory material manufacturing: Refractory cement, as an important binder, is used in the manufacture of refractory materials such as refractory bricks, refractory castables, and refractory precast components, to bind refractory aggregates into products with a certain shape and strength.
