Refractory cement is a calcium aluminate-based hydraulic cementitious material made primarily from bauxite and limestone through calcination and grinding. Its core characteristic is a refractoriness of not less than 1580℃. Based on these characteristics, it is mainly used to prepare refractory concrete or mortar as linings for industrial kilns and other thermal equipment.
Refractory cement, scientifically known as aluminate cement, is a hydraulic cementitious material made primarily from bauxite and limestone through calcination and grinding. Its core characteristic is a refractoriness of not less than 1580℃, maintaining strength and stability at high temperatures. It is mainly used in the preparation of refractory concrete or mortar as linings for industrial kilns and other thermal equipment.
This is its most fundamental characteristic. Refractory cement typically has a refractoriness of 1300℃ to 1400℃, and some high-purity varieties can even withstand temperatures above 1650℃. This makes it an ideal choice for high-temperature industries.
Its setting and hardening speed is much faster than ordinary cement. Typically, refractory cement can reach more than 80% of its final strength in one day, significantly shortening the construction period.
Its hardened cement paste does not contain components commonly found in ordinary cement that are easily corroded, thus exhibiting strong resistance to chemical attack such as sulfates.
A large amount of heat is released during the hardening process, and the heat release is very concentrated. This characteristic makes it suitable for construction in winter, but also makes it unsuitable for large-volume concrete projects to prevent internal overheating and cracking.






This is the core use. It is mixed with refractory aggregates such as corundum and high-alumina bauxite to make refractory castables or refractory concrete, which is used to construct the linings of various high-temperature kilns (such as cement rotary kilns, metallurgical blast furnaces, and heating furnaces).
Taking advantage of its characteristics of rapid hardening and early strength, it is often used in projects that require rapid restoration of use, such as road repairs, military engineering, and structural leak plugging.
Due to its excellent resistance to sulfate corrosion, it is also used in special projects where there is a risk of such chemical attack.





The performance of refractory cement is mainly determined by its chemical composition, especially the content of alumina (Al₂O₃). Based on composition and properties, it is mainly divided into the following categories:
